Foods with Vitamin B12


Vitamin B12 is sometimes referred to as cobalamin. It is known to boost mood and memory. It is believed to have benefits for people suffering with male infertility, sleep disorders and depression. Causes of low vitamin B12 include anemia, thinning of the stomach lining and complications from surgery on the small intestines. Too much vitamin B12 is usually a result of diet. It is recommended that people over the age of 14 take in 2.4 micrograms of the vitamin per day. Pregnant and breastfeeding women require between 2.6 micrograms and 2.8 micrograms daily. The benefits of B12 were first recognized when it was discovered that doses of the vitamin were helpful in treating pernicious anemia.
